Avum is seeking a Analyst / Jr. Project Manager to support Government customers and the Avum development team. This position will be a central point of contact (POC) for customer interactions, including status updates, arranging presentations/demos, scheduling meetings, and directing inquiries to the appropriate team member. The individual will need to be a functional analyst of the customer's business systems, learning new applications and related business processes to document/communicate the system gaps with customer requirements. The individual will need to guide the development team regarding user interface design and system functionality from the customer's point of view. The individual will need to address customer questions related to the systems/applications, research open requests, and reach out to external contacts for answers. This role requires the individual to coordinate with external system POCs to set up interfaces and resolve issues. The individual will need to coordinate with the customer to receive product releases and manage change control board (CCB) procedures.

The applicant will manage the product backlog and development assignments and translate customer requirements into actionable tasks for the development team. Data Scientist & Analyst

Avum is seeking a Data Scientist & Analyst to help our team collect, cleanse, transform, analyze and present data for our U.S. Navy customers. The individual will work with a team of highly technical individuals to develop data collection pipelines supporting data-centric applications and systems. We use Tableau for our data visualization tool.

The individual will be responsible for setting up data interfaces, removing corrupted data, determining data quality, and preparing reports and visualizations in Tableau. Our goal is to mentor the candidate regarding the data domain we are operating within. Thus, we are looking for someone who enjoys exploring data for analysis and is willing to dig into data to understand the business problem and deliver actionable insights for stakeholders to make decisions.

The candidate must be experienced in Agile Scrum and DevSecOps methodologies, leading engineering teams in development iterations (Sprints) involving daily meetings (Scrums), a prioritized task backlog, and government stakeholders review sessions.

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are required. Must be able to work with engineering and analyst teams, along with the ability to coordinate with government stakeholders.

  • Connect to and transform data
  • Explore and analyze data
  • Build data visualizations with Tableau (i.e., create content).
  • Publish data visualization with on Tableau Server
  • Build data interfaces from Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition data sources
  • Perform data selection, cleansing, and transformation.
  • Create automated processes in Java to continuously perform data updates and pull new data on schedules.
  • Perform the analytics and modeling of the data by building different representations of results (e.g., Excel Pivots, Scatter Plots, Graphs, Charts, etc.)
  • Iteratively visualize the dataset's evolutions and attempt to discover patterns. The goal is to generate numerous views into the dataset, so participants can understand the best way to begin modeling and visualizations.
  • Respond to data calls from the customer and create ad-hoc reports.
  • Performs other projects as directed by the team and project stakeholders
  • The candidate must have the desire and passion for working with data and data visualizations.

As a remote employee, the candidate will not have a permanent office or desk space but may be required to attend in-person meetings (depending on current COVID-19 restrictions and guidance). This may require travel to government sites located in Washington, D.C., and the Avum office in Agoura Hills, California.

Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a curriculum or major field of study which provides substantial knowledge useful in system development and is closely related to the work detailed above, and/or in a computer science, information systems, physical science, engineering or mathematics–intensive discipline, or an applicable training certificate from an accredited training institution.
